What is a sample wedding dress?
A sample wedding dress is a gown that has been displayed in a bridal boutique for brides to try on during appointments. While sample gowns may have been tried on in-store, they have not been worn for a wedding. Because they are part of a boutique's showroom inventory, sample gowns may have minor signs of handling or wear, which are carefully inspected and disclosed in each product listing. Purchasing a sample gown is an excellent way to own an authentic designer dress at a significantly reduced price.
What is the difference between a sample gown and a new gown?
A new gown has never been tried on in a bridal boutique and is ordered directly from the designer specifically for the bride.
A sample gown has been available for brides to try on in a boutique showroom. While it may show minor cosmetic wear from fittings, it is professionally inspected before being offered for sale. Any noticeable imperfections are clearly described in the product listing, so you know exactly what to expect.
Whether you choose a new or sample gown, you'll receive an authentic designer dress. The primary differences are availability, condition, and price.
How much can I save on a designer wedding gown?
Shopping The Vault by J Bridal allows you to purchase authentic designer wedding gowns at exceptional value. Depending on the designer, style, and condition, brides can often save 30–70% off the original retail price.
Our inventory includes boutique samples, discontinued styles, and select new gowns from leading bridal designers, making it possible to find your dream dress at a fraction of the original cost—without compromising on quality or authenticity.
How often do you add new gowns?
New arrivals are added regularly. We recommend checking back often or joining our email list to be notified of new inventory.
Sizing & Fit
What size is the gown?
Each listing includes the designer's labeled size and size chart.
Can my gown be altered?
Yes. Wedding gowns are designed to be altered by a professional bridal seamstress. Most gowns can be taken in several sizes, while letting a gown out depends on available seam allowance.
How do I know if a gown will fit me?
We recommend comparing your bust, waist, and hip measurements with the gown's measurements. If you're unsure, our team is happy to help.
